The author presents case studies of several towns in Wabaunsee County, Harvey County, and the southeast Kansas counties of Crawford and Cherokee. This thorough study uses local ordinances, Kansas statutes, histories of Prohibition and bootlegging, newspaper articles, and local interviews.
